About eduroam

Eduroam – wireless internet access for students and staff in the educational world

Eduroam is a global collaboration where research and educational institutions provide each other's students and staff with access to wireless networks across institutions. Thus, a student at a Danish university may go online at a university abroad without having to register as a user.

Use eduroam worldwide

More than 15,000 sites offer eduroam. Eduroam is massively widespread in Europe and is available in 72 countries and territories worldwide.

Security in eduroam

When you connect to a wireless network at a location other than your own institution, your user name and password are sent to your home institution. If you are recognized and approved, it is signalled to the visited institution and you are granted access to the internet.

The communication is encrypted to prevent others from seeing your password. Encryption is done using a so-called server certificate from the server at your institution.
